Pantone Fall 2013 Color Report

New York Fashion Week buzz is upon us. Starting September 5th, those itty-bitty models will be strutting their stuff down packed tent catwalks, wearing the finest designer duds and giving women around the world (myself included) the urge to go shopping for things we can’t afford.

So why on this advertising blog am I talking about New York Fashion Week? First, watch the clip from the Devil Wears Prada…

…ok, did you watch it? Good. Now consider this; the trends set at NYFW not only affect the fashion world but the design world too. Colors that are on trend for that sweater you just bought (thank you Meryl) will also be seen in the latest logos, websites and other advertising mediums. I bet a few of you out there may have recently used Emerald, Pantone’s color of the year, in a project? Well, as stated in the clip above, that color was “preselected for you.”

Each year Pantone takes a look at the most prominent and talked about colors being used in upcoming fashion collections. They ask fashion industry big wigs such as Rachel Roy and Tommy Hilfiger to weigh in, and after 50 years of the report’s annual release it’s an established resource for all creatives. With NYFW right around the corner a new color report is on its way. But in the meantime take a look at the Fall 2013 report. I bet we will be seeing a lot of these hues used in fall fashions and great ad work alike in the upcoming months.
